MK Peretz calls for larger role for gov't in economy

Labor MK Amir Peretz said called Wednesday for greater state involvement in the Israeli economy, and greater accountability for the nation's business owners.
"Those with the means, and not the average man, must be able to absorb the failure of their businesses," Peretz said, adding that he was not ashamed to admit he believed the government should regulate the economy more strongly.
"When we talks about changes and tax cuts it must be done on a wider scale," Peretz said. "We cannot get to a point where those with the means will be applauded when their businesses flourish, but the public pays the price when their businesses fail."
