MK Orit Zuaretz (Kadima) defended President Shimon Peres on Thursday for saying that Israel should not attack Iran alone, saying that it was lucky for Israel that it "has a president that acts like a responsible adult."
Sources close to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu slammed Peres for his statements, saying that he had forgotten the president’s largely symbolic role.
"It seems that the prime minister has lost all sense of boundaries," Zuaretz responded, adding that he was "running amok without noting warning signs."
Peres on the other hand, she said, understands and reflects upon the dramatic consequences of a one-sided operation against Iran. "The result of such an action can be devastating both in terms of the immediate threat to civilians the home front," she said.
