Mofaz recounts connection to Benzion through Yoni Netanyahu

"Bezion was a man of great stature, a Zionist who believed in the rebirth of Israel and its right to exist," opposition leader Shaul Mofaz said of Benzion Netanyahu, who died at the age of 102 in Jerusalem early Monday morning.
Benzion "paid the greatest price of all" for his Zionism, "the death of his son, Yoni," Mofaz continued, using the nickname for one of Benzion's three sons who died during a successful IDF operation to free hundreds of hostages in Uganda.
"I feel a deep sorry on his passing, take part in the family's sorrow and send them my condolences," said Mofaz, who served under Yonatan Netanyahu from 1975-1976 when he was commander of Sayeret Matkal. Following Yonatan's death, Benzion had asked Mofaz to revisit his son's past with him, and the two remained in contact thereafter.
