Mubarak calls on Israel to continue settlement freeze

WASHINGTON— Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak called on Israel to freeze settlement activity in the Israeli-occupied territories and seize the moment for peace, Wednesday evening.
Mubarak described Israeli settlement-building in the West Bank as "contrary to international law" in a speech he gave in the East Room of the White House alongside President Barack Obama.
Mubarak called Middle East peace "an elusive hope for two decades." He said the failure to achieve it has generated great frustration among the populace of the region.
