Mubarak denies peace negotiations will be passed to UN

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak distanced himself Monday from his country's foreign minister's threats that Cairo would transfer the issue of Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations to the UN Security Council. Mubarak's comments came following a meeting with French President Nicholas  Sarkozy in Paris.
Mubarak stated that it was still to early to discuss turning the issue over to the Security Council.  He said that the proximity talks now taking place between the two sides might still succeed in leading to a peace agreement.
Mubarak added that Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit's plan of turning the subject over to the Security Council might be considered if the talks were to fail.
