'Mubarak resigns as head of ruling Nat'l Democratic Party'

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak resigned his role as head of the country's ruling National Democratic Party against the backdrop of 12 days of protests throughout the country, Egyptian state television reported.
The resignation of other top leaders in the NDP were announced minutes earlier, including its secretary-general and Mubarak's son, Gamal, according to the reports.
