Netanyahu appeals Likud decision to Supreme Court

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu asked the Supreme Court on Tuesday toallow him to delay an election for a new Likud central committee fromApril 28 to 2012, appealing a decision last week by the Tel AvivDistrict Court.
In the appeal, Netanyahu wrote that it would be too difficultlogistically to prepare for the election on such short notice. He alsosaid the district court should not have interfered in an internal Likudmatter.
The court will hear the case on March 25. MK Danny Danon, who defeatedNetanyahu in the District Court case, said he hoped that Netanyahuwould realize that he has no chance of winning and would drop theappeal.
