Netanyahu on Schalit dea

After both Israeli and Palestinian sources claimed that a mutual prisoner exchange was in the works to release captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu stressed during Monday's Likud faction meeting: "There is no deal yet." The prime minister declared that the government would "not evade the public debate" concerning a "serious dilemma" - a controversial prisoner exchange - "when the time comes," but stated that "the time has not come yet." Responding to a question posed by Tzipi Hotovely, Netanyahu stated that "when there will be [a deal], it will be brought for debate the Knesset and voted on in the cabinet." Meanwhile on Monday, a government source said rumors that Netanyahu would create a special committee to approve any potential Schalit deal due to fears that it would not get a majority in the cabinet were "absurd."
