New law forbids entrance fees on Yom Hazikaron ceremonies

The Knesset passed a law on Monday prohibiting entrance fees at Yom Hazikaron ceremonies.
The legislation, proposed by MK Moshe Matalon (Israel Beiteinu), ensures that any body or organization that is in any way funded by the government cannot charge money to attend its memorial ceremony.
“Memory and bereavement are part of the Israeli-Zionist ethos,” Matalon explained. “The State of Israel cannot allow people to take advantage of those who are in mourning. No one can earn money on the blood of the fallen.”
The law passed its final plenum reading with 10 in favor and none opposed.
