New law to prohibit heavy trucks on TA Ayalon highway

Heavy vehicles and semi-trailer trucks weighing over 12 tons will be forbidden to drive on the Ayalon highway during the morning hours starting February 1, 2011.
The new Transportation Ministry's law forbids heavy trucks between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. between the Glilot and Holot interchanges.
According to Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz, the law is the first phase in a plan which will prohibit truck traffic at the entrances to the Tel Aviv metropolitan area.
During the prohibited hours, trucks will be diverted to alternate routes or to waiting lots.
