New Zealand changes labor law to allow 'The Hobbit' filming

The New Zealand Parliament has reportedly changed its labor law on Thursday so that the film version of The Hobbit could be filmed there.
The new law makes workers in film and video game production independent contractors, as opposed to employees, thus preventing their unionization.
In response, the opposition Labour party reportedly said the legislation "reduced New Zealand to a client state of a US movie studio."
