NHC: Tropical storm Ernesto may become hurricane

Tropical Storm Ernesto has strengthened and is likely to become a hurricane by Monday night, the US National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.
The storm, the fifth of the hurricane season, was located about 305 km east-northeast of Cabo Gracias a Dios on the Nicaragua/Honduras border Monday morning, with maximum sustained winds of 100 km per hour.
"The government of Mexico has issued a hurricane warning for the east coast of the Yucatan peninsula from Chetumal northward to Punta Allen, and has issued a tropical storm warning from north of Punta Allen to Tulum," the NHC said.
The government of Belize has issued a hurricane watch for the entire coast of Belize.
