President Shimon Peres met with Noam and Aviva Schalit Wednesday afternoon, telling them that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu made the right and courageous decision in signing off on a prisoner exchange deal to release their son Gilad. The entire people of Israel is proud of him, Peres added.
The Schalits thanked the prime minister and the ministers who voted for the deal, Israel Radio reported. They also expressed their thanks to the Egyptian government, which mediated the deal, as well as the German government and French President Nicolas Sarkozy.Noam said that he and his wife will remain worried until the moment they can see Gilad and he can return to a normal and quiet life. Aviv told families of terror victims that they are in her heart.
