Noam Schalit not aware of German mediator's efforts

Noam Schalit on Thursday responded to reports that the German mediator had visited Gaza to discuss the release of captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit, saying he is not aware of any progress on the issue. His comments came in an interview with Israel Radio.

Schalit said he hope that Hamas and the government would work out a deal that would bring the release of his son after almost five years, but he added that his family had not been in contact with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in the last four months. In any event, Schalit added, the family does not want meetings, but rather actions.

According to Noam Schalit, the Schalit family has lost all belief in everyone involved in bringing about his son's release and the little trust that they did have disappeared a long time ago in light of the lack of results.
