Obama: Commitment to Israel's security must not waver

US President Barack Obama reaffirmed his commitment to Israel and its security in his speech accepting the Democratic nomination for president at the party's convention Thursday night.
"Our commitment to Israel's security must not waver, and neither must our pursuit of peace," Obama told the gathered delegates.
Addressing Iran, the president asserted that the government in Tehran "must face a world that stays united against its nuclear ambitions."
Obama also discussed the political shifts that have taken place across the Middle East in the past two years. "The historic change sweeping across the Arab World must be defined not by the iron fist of a dictator or the hate of extremists, but by the hopes and aspirations of ordinary people who are reaching for the same rights that we celebrate here today," he said.
