Obama: Myanmar elections are "anything but free and fair"

MUMBAI, India — President Barack Obama says the elections currently being held in Myanmar are "anything but free and fair."
Speaking Sunday to a group of college students in Mumbai, Obama said that for too long the people of Myanmar, which is also known as Burma, have "been denied the right to determine their own destiny."
The president told the students that young people must "always speak out for human rights that are universal."
In the first election in 20 years, the people of Myanmar cast ballots on Sunday amid a barrage of criticism that the balloting was rigged in favor of the ruling military.
