Official: No Israeli names in Chile quake casualty lists

Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor on Sunday morning said that the Israeli Embassy in Santiago did not find any names of Israelis in the lists of of casualties released by authorities in Chile following the 8.9-magnitude earthquake that hit the South American country on Saturday.
One of the largest earthquakes ever recorded tore apart houses, bridges and highways in central Chile on Saturday and sent a tsunami racing halfway around the world. Chileans near the epicenter were tossed about as if shaken by a giant, and the head of the emergency agency said authorities believed at least 300 people were dead.
