Outpost committee to be formed this week

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu promised to form an outpost committee by the end of the week when he spoke with the Likud faction in the Knesset on Monday and with Likud ministers prior to the cabinet meeting at his Jerusalem office on Sunday.

Netanyahu initially pledged to create such a committee on October 11, but to date has yet to do so.

The panel is expected to be composed of legal experts that will examine land status in Judea and Samaria, including land privately owned by Palestinians on which Israeli homes have been constructed without full authorization.

Likud politicians who proposed the committee hope that it will prevent any future demolitions of such homes.
