Oved Yehezkel's lawyer denies link to appointments case

The lawyer for former cabinet secretary Oved Yehezkel, who was ex-prime minister Ehud Olmert's right-hand man when the latter allegedly handed out sinecures to senior Likud Party members for political support, denied that his client had any connection to the case.
"Did he have any interest in promoting Likud central committee members?" asked attorney David Libai rhetorically in an interview with Army Radio.
The allegations center around when Olmert was serving as minister of industry, commerce and employment in 2004 and 2005. On Monday, the State Attorney’s Office said it was consideredtrying both the former prime minister and Yehezkel on criminal charges for the affair.
Meanwhile, Olmert's lawyer, Navot Tel-Tzur, told the radio station that the former prime minister made no appointments whatsoever. "Official committees made decisions about good people who are still serving in those posts," he said.
