PA: Settlement building 'contradicts peace process'

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas slammed Israel's announced publication of tenders for over 1,000 new housing units in the West Bank and east Jerusalem Sunday. Abbas spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said the decision "contradicts efforts to revive the peace process," Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
Abu Rudeineh added that the move coincides with what he described as an increase of so-called "price tag" violence by settlers and other right-wing activists against Palestinians as well as vandalism against Palestinian property and mosques in the West Bank.
The Abbas spokesman called on the international community to stop Israeli settlement building, WAFA reported.
