Four people were arrested in the Silwan neighborhood of east Jerusalem on Wednesday afternoon for disturbing the peace in a round-up of suspects that police periodically do in the tense neighborhood.
During the arrests, dozens of residents began to gather and throw stones at the police forces.
Police fired a series of warning shots and used force to disperse the demonstrators. In the course of dispersing the residents, one of the border police fired his gun and hit one of the suspects who was arrested in the leg.
The suspect was injured lightly and was treated by a Magen David Adom paramedics. The incident came the day after Silwan residents threw Molotov cocktails at a patrol of border police late on Tuesday night. There were no injuries but the border patrol fired a series of warning shots in the air.
