Peres: Assad's fall is close and will harm Hezbollah

The end of Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime is close and its fall will harm Hezbollah, said President Shimon Peres on Wednesday while touring the Golan Heights.
"There has not yet been a precedent when tanks fired on civilians as is happening in Syria," said Peres. He predicted that Assad's fall would harm Hezbollah's presence in the region, and may consequently influence security challenges facing Israel.
The president was touring the area with IDF Chief of Staff Lt.- Gen. Benny Gantz during a 7th Amored Brigade exercise, and wished the soldiers a happy Passover.
