Peres criticizes efforts to separate gender in public

President Shimon Peres decried Monday attempts to control where women can sit or appear in public spaces, Army Radio reported.
"No man has the authority to force a woman to site where he wants. If a man doesn't want to get on a bus, then he shouldn't get on. No one is forcing him," Peres said during his speech at an anti-human trafficking conference at the President's Residence in Jerusalem.
The president was referring to certain streams within the ultra-Orthodox community that have tried to require certain bus lines to be gender-segregated.
