Peres: Man who tried to rescue girl from J'lem manhole 'real hero'

President Shimon Peres on Friday branded Menashe Klipa, the man who jumped in a Jerusalem gas-filled manhole on Wednesday in an attempt to rescue a three-year-old girl, a "real hero," and said his act was "an example of civilian behavior of the highest order." Peres spoke with the wife of Menashe, hospitalized in serious but stable condition, telling her that "we are all watching his condition with concern." The three-year-old girl, whose family recently moved to Israel from the US, was killed in Wednesday's accident in the capital's Ramat Eshkol neighborhood.
