Peres says 'price-tag' attacks contrary to Israeli values

President Shimon Peres decried Saturday night's "price-tag" attacks in Jaffa and Bat Yam, saying that such actions are contrary to Israeli values.
"It doesn't matter whether Muslims, Christians or Jews - it's an act of vandalism, it's a crime, its against everything that the Jewish people stand for as a country and as a democracy," Peres said.
The president said that it was up to the government to protect holy sites in the country and said that the culprits would be brought to justice.
"It is the responsibility of the Israeli government to assure [these sites'] holiness, to assure the easy approach to them, to assure the respect for every holy site," Peres said.
"I am sure that our police will apprehend all the people who did this, the criminals, and we shall not let them walk free."
