Peres says technology has transformed the role of gov't

Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg held a live interview with President Shimon Peres Tuesday evening in the United States.

Speaking of the role technology is playing in world politics, Peres told Sandberg that in today's world, the people rule governments more than the other way around.

Asked how Israel became such a technological leader, Peres explained, "We don't have any natural resources, but then we discovered we have something that is greater than anything else - the human being."

"This is a case where the people enriched the land more than the land enriched the people," he said.
