Petah Tikva couple gets 3 years prison for 2009 hit-and-run

A couple was sentenced to three years in jail Monday, for seriously injuring 13-year-old Amir Balahson in a 2009 hit-and-run accident. Pnina Toran and Omri Naim confessed to hitting and leaving the child and driving without a license.

The Petah Tikva District Court also ruled that the couple must pay reparations to the injured child's family.

Prior to the sentencing, the child's family stated that the penalty the prosecution had suggested was not severe enough.

Balahson is still in a coma as the result of injuries sustained in the accident.
