PM: 'I am obligated to reach a peace agreement.'

After meeting with US Middle East Envoy George Mitchell on Wednesday, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said that he and the Israeli government are obligated to reach a peace agreement with the Palestinian leadership.
"There are many obstacles on the way to peace," the prime minister said after meeting with Mitchell. "Everyone understands this, but there is only one way to promise that we will not attain peace, and that is by not trying to achieve peace." "I am obligated, the government is obligated, to reach a peace agreement, a peace agreement which will ensure the security and the essential interests of the state of Israel," he said. "We are obligated to take this route."
Mitchell said that US President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, asked Netanyahu to come to Wednesday's meeting with a message to the Israeli and Palestinian nation and its leadership that they must remain obligated to achieve collective peace in the Middle East with all nations in the region.
