PM: Israelis can make better living than Europeans

Israeli citizens can make a better living today than European citizens or Israelis in the past, Israel Radio reported Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu as saying on Sunday. At the end of the month, Israelis lack a disposable income because prices in Israel are high, the prime minister added.
Speaking from a National Security College alumni ceremony at Mount Scopus in Jerusalem, Netanyahu said "prices are high because of a lack of competition [in the market] and the effects of cartels," including "state monopolies" like the Israel Lands Administration, one such cartel in need of change.
Netanyahu said Israel faces threats on a scale not seen in the country's history. he said that the security apparatus needed to protect the nation has steep costs, and therefore demands a strong and powerful economy.
