PM Netanyahu: Tal Law will not be extended by five years

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced Wednesday that the Tal Law will not be extended for five years.
The law, originally instituted in 2000, was designed to increase the numbers of ultra-Orthodox yeshiva students serving in the army, and ultimately joining the workforce, by encouraging them to participate in some minimal form of national service after the age of 22.
Netanyahu said that he will discuss the length of the law's extension with his coalition partners, after which he will submit a proposal for Cabinet approval.
