PM: Special benefits to Palestinian prisoners to be axed

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Thursday said in light of Hamas's refusal to give the Red Cross proof that kidnapped soldier Gilad Schalit is alive, he will toughen conditions on terrorist prisoners in Israel's jails.
"We are obligated to abide by Israeli and international law but nothing more than that...Terrorists will not be allowed to enroll in academic studies, to get masters degrees and doctorates. This heyday has now come to an end."
Netanyahu added: "I would like to congratulate Britain, France and the US for calling on Hamas to free Schalit immediately and let the Red Cross see him. I'm certain if we pressure Hamas on a daily basis we will bring about the release of Gilad Schalit so he returns home safe and sound."
