PMO approves compensation for impact of construction freeze

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday approved the guidelines for compensating settlers and others adversely affected by the West Bank construction freeze.
The plan was prepared by a team led by Cabinet Secretary Tzvi Hauser. The guidelines set uniform criteria for providing compensation, on three tracks: To those who purchased apartments, to contractors and those with building permits, and to local councils that were adversely affected by the decision.
The outline will be implemented by a professional committee as set forth in the cabinet decision. The decision requires neither legislation nor approval from additional forums; therefore, it may be implemented immediately.
As a result of the approval, Hauser reached an agreement with MK Danny Danon (Likud) and MK Uri Ariel (National Union) regarding the withdrawal of the bills they recently submitted to the Ministerial Committee on Legislation.
