Police: 2 guards killed in Iraq court bombing

Iraqi officials say two security guards have been killed by a bomb that exploded near a court building in Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit.
Police and hospital officials say the court's security personnel discovered two bombs near the entrance to the civil court on Wednesday morning as people were coming to work. The building was evacuated, but one of the bombs went off at 7:40 local time, killing the two guards and wounding three civilians.
Police said they defused the second bomb. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
The explosion in Tikrit occurred a day after a suicide bomber killed 61 army recruits in central Baghdad.
Officials blamed al-Qaida for that attack — the deadliest in Baghdad in months.
