Police arrest Eritrean national on rape charges

Police arrested an Eritrean national on rape charges on Wednesday, Army Radio reported.

The man was in the process of renewing his visa at the Population Authority's office in Beersheba when the government clerk saw the Eritrean national was flagged for arrest, leading to his subsequent detainment.

The arrest is the latest in a wave of illegal activities tied to the African migrant population in Israel, with the public security minister on Wednesday demanding that the government make strides in stemming the flow infiltrators into Israel through the border with Egypt, and provide incentives for those migrants already in Israel to return to their home countries.
