Police: Assault on Haifa soldiers likely not nationalistic

The brutal assault of two off-duty soldiers in Haifa over the weekend by a group of Israeli Arabs was likely the result of mistaken identity and not a nationalistically-motivated attack as had initially been suspected, police said Sunday.
Police arrested two additional suspects allegedly involved in the assault that took place outside of Rambam Medical Center in Haifa on Saturday, bringing the total number of arrests in the incident to six.
Prior to the assault, rocks were thrown at a home the suspects were staying in close to the site of the assault. The suspects then assaulted the off-duty soldiers, believing they were responsible for the rock-throwing, police said.
