Police close Abutbul-owned restaurants after firebombings

Police shut down three restaurants owned by alleged underworld figure Francios Abutbul in Netanya on Monday, two days after they were targeted by a wave of firebombings.
The three branches of the Bat Haikar (Farmer's Daughter) eateries were all firebombed early on Saturday, while one branch was targeted again on Saturday evening by a grenade.
"These incidents are a continuation of a series of criminal acts which took place in the chain as part of a 'settling of accounts' between crime families," police said in the closure order. Police linked the incidents to past attacks on the restaurants, such as a 2009 grenade attack, and the 2008 attempted assassination of Charlie Abutbul in 2008.
Police have repeatedly attempted to close the restaurant down, citing intelligence that attacks on the site would continue. But Netanya courts have overruled such attempts in the past.
