Police deny reports of excessive force in Tel Aviv protest

Tel Aviv district police denied using excessive force to disperse protesters in the south Tel Aviv neighborhood of Hatikva Saturday night, saying "This was an illegal protest in which activists blocked off central roads in south Tel Aviv."
Police said the protesters caused disturbances. "We carried out arrests while using reasonable force," police added.
Social justice movement leader Stav Shaffir claimed Sunday that police dragged her to their vehicles, and used violence to break up the crowd of some 400 activists protesting. She claimed that police beat other detainees once they were held in police vehicles.
A total of 23 activists were arrested.
