President Peres to leave for Davos on diplomatic mission

President Shimon Peres will leave for Davos on Thursday promote Israel's economic and diplomatic interests.

Peres annually participates in the World Economic Forum in Davos where he has the opportunity to meet with heads of state, prime ministers, foreign ministers, finance ministers, opinion makers, global leaders of high tech industries and heads of major investment groups.

Fortunately, he can take time out while the various political parties explore the possibility of forming either a broad coalition headed by either by Likud/Yisrael Beiteinu or by a strong left wing coalition depending on the final outcome of the votes in Tuesday's Knesset elections.

Among the world leaders who have signified that they will attend the conference in Davos are Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev, the President of Switzerland Ueli Maurer, British Prime Minister David Cameron, who is bound to be mobbed after dropping a bombshell and declaring that he will hold a referendum to allow the people of Britain to decide on their country's future relationship with the European Union, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and UN Secretary General ban Ki Moon.

Peres will use the opportunity to discuss developments in the Middle East both from the podium and in private meetings with various world leaders. He will speak more broadly on the subject as well as on issues on the home front at a special Shabbat dinner on Friday evening which will be attended by all Jewish participants in the conference.

Peres will also hold intensive meetings with top ranking officials from CISCO, Publicis, Kickstarter , PayPall,, Facebook and Blackstone among others with a view to securing more investments in Israel's economy. Peres is due to return to Israel on Sunday.
