Rabbi Richard Jacobs elected new URJ president

The Board of Trustees of the Union for Reform Judaism on Sunday unanimously elected Rabbi Richard Jacobs to serve as its next president.
Only the fourth person to hold the office since its creation in 1943, Jacobs follows Rabbis Maurice Eisendrath, Alexander Schindler and Eric Yoffie.
Jacobs is currently senior rabbi at Westchester Reform Temple in Scarsdale, New York, and will assume the URJ presidency in 2012.
