Remand extended for driver suspected of killing youth

Nazareth Magistrate's Court on Saturday night extended the remand of the driver suspected of running over and killing Reuven Lavot early Saturday morning. The suspect's remand was extended by five days.
Lavot, 19, was struck by a car and killed at Kibbutz Kfar Giladi in the Upper Galilee.
Shortly after the accident, the suspect arrived at the Kiryat Shmona police station, believed to be under the influence of alcohol. He told police that he had been involved in a fight outside of the bar at Kfar Giladi and had accidentally hit the youth with his vehicle while fleeing. He added that the youth he struck with his vehicle had also been involved in the fight outside of the bar.
Four others detained in connection with the incident also had their remands extended by two days.
