Remand extended for J'lem man accused of killing baby daughter

Remand extended for Jeru

The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court on Thursday extended the remand by eight days of a man accused of killing his baby daughter last week. Nahman Anshin, 23, a Jerusalem resident, was arrested earlier in the week on suspicion of beating eight-month-old Fruma to death. During Thursday's hearing, police presented psychological evidence they say proves Anshin's fitness to stand trial. However, the court asked that the district psychiatrist complete his evaluation and give a final assessment of Anshin's criminal responsibility for the murder. Before the hearing, Anshin told Army Radio that the procedings against him were staged and that the one responsible for his daughter's murder was his "double."
