Report: 2 Koreas fire artillery along coast

Yonhap news agency saysthat the militaries of North and South Korea have exchanged artilleryfire along their disputed western sea border.

North Korea fired several rounds of land-based artillery off thewest coast Wednesday, two days after it designated two no-sail zonesalong the sea border, Yonhap reported.

Yonhap, citing no source, said South Korea@@@s military returned fire. The report did not provide further details.

South Korea@@@s Defense Ministry said it could not immediately confirm the report.

Thewestern sea border is a constant source of military tension between thetwo Koreas. Their navies fought a brief yet bloody gunbattle inNovember that left one North Korean sailor dead and three otherswounded.
