Report: Barcelona fans in Ramallah ignore boycott

Palestinian football fans have put sport first by ignoring a call from Hamas to boycott the 'El Classico' showdown between Barcelona and Real Madrid, Sky News reported Monday.

Manager of La Vista restaurant Murad Abulalhawa told Sky News calls for a boycott of the game were misplaced, commenting: "Look, nobody is even talking about it. Sport brings us together, politics shouldn't come into it."

However, Palestinians freed from Israeli jails held their own version of the Barcelona-Real Madrid soccer match on Sunday to protest at the presence of Gilad Schalit at the actual fixture.
