Report: Egypt and Turkey navies begin joint exercise

Egypt began its third annual joint naval exercise with Turkey Thursday, which was billed as being aimed at "maintaining security and peace in the region."
Head of the Egyptian Navy, Vice Admiral Mohab Mamish, denied that the exercise was directed toward any specific country, stressing it was "a routine exercise held to exchange technical and tactical expertise," semi-official Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram reported. The exercise was called "Sea of Friendship 2011."
