Report: Egypt official says Israel forced Palestine to UN

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Amr asserted that Palestine resorted to the UN after all Palestinian peace efforts were undermined by Israel's hard-line attitude and continuing settlement building, news site AllAfrica reported Friday.

Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Amr Roshdi said the comments were made during a meeting with US Department of State Assistant Secretary for the Near Eastern Affairs Elizabeth Jones, who is currently visiting Egypt, according to the report.

AllAfrica also quoted Roshdi as stating that the meeting covered regional issues, especially the Syrian crisis and the Palestinian problem and Egypt's vision on each case.
