Report: El Al resumes flights to Cairo after three months

El Al airlines resumed flights between Ben-Gurion Airport and Cairo after a three-month suspension on Monday, Egyptian media reported.
Egypt’s Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper reported that Flight 443 arrived in Cairo early at 1 a.m. Monday morning with 59 passengers and returned to Ben-Gurion Airport three hours later with 12 passengers.
Israel’s flag carrier halted flights between the two countries in September after mass protests at the Israeli embassy in the Egyptian capital. Jerusalem evacuated its ambassador shortly after, as well as the staff of the Israel Academic Center, an Israeli-run educational institute housing Cairo’s most extensive Hebrew library.
El Al has flown to Cairo since 1980, and the city remains its only destination in the Arab world.
