Report: French medical team examined Schalit last week

A French medical team arrived in Gaza last week in order to check on the condition of captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit, Al Hayat reported Sunday. According to the report, the crew arrived in the Strip through Rafah. The French team's visit to the secret location where Schalit is being held was arranged by the German mediator heading up negotiations for Schalit's release, according to the report. The results of the medical examination were not reported. The visit would mark the first time that an outside party, not affiliated with Hamas, has visited the captured soldier.
