Report: Iran says US, Israel pushing for Mideast conflict

Iran blamed the US and Israel for attempting to drag the Middle East into a military conflict, according to a report by Army Radio on Wednesday.
According to the report, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanfarast said that the US and Israel are conspiring against Islam.
"The Americans believe that the immediate result of a military conflict in the region will save the Zionist regime," Mehmanfarast was quoted as saying.
The West is trying to bring Middle East countries into an internal military conflict, he added.
Mehmanfarast continued: "The United States and Israel are trying to weaken the popular uprisings in the region in an aim to slow to the spread of Islam to their regional allies. Obama wants to continue the Western hegemony in the Middle East and to destroy the Islamic Republic in Iran."
