Report: PA's Erekat calls on US to reconsider statehood bid

Palestinian Authority official Saeb Erekat on Tuesday called on the US government to reconsider its stance on the Palestinian's statehood bid at the UN General Assembly scheduled for September, Israel Radio reported.
Receiving independent statehood recognition is the only way to ensure two-states for two peoples, Erekat reportedly said at a meeting with the American consul Daniel Rubinstein in Cairo.
According to the report, PA spokesperson Ghassan Khatib said that the Palestinians have become exhausted in their attempt to end the "occupation" and establish a Palestinian state through bilateral negotiations and have therefore decided to approach the UN.
Erekat also condemned the newly approved "Boycott Law" saying that the approval proves that Israel is carrying-out its plan to destroy the solution of two-states for two peoples.
