Report: PM's top media adviser to leave within months

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's chief spokesman Gidi Schmerling will leave his post in the coming months, Channel 2 reported Tuesday night.  Schmerling, who began working in the Prime Minister's Office about a year ago, has reportedly been offered the job as Tel Aviv's municipal spokesman.
The Prime Minister's Office issued a response to the report, saying that Schmerling has "served as a media adviser for over a year and is continuing in that position. The PMO is not looking for another head of the National Information Directorate."
Schmerling joined the PMO as a spokesman in May 2010, coming to the job from the Jerusalem municipality where he served as spokesman, and some six months ago was appointed as head of the National Information Directorate inside the PMO, replacing Nir Hefetz.
